Read an E-Book Week - a Success!

What a great turnout. Visitors came from 143 countries with browser settings in 82 languages. Within the top ten were Polish (3rd), Dutch (5th) German (6th), Spanish (8th) and French (9th). Countries of origin included Mongolia, the Isle of Man, Zambia and Brazil.

We would like to thank our wonderful sponsors: E Ink, Kobo, and eBound. They were very generous in their support.

Although Read an E-Book is over for 2012, remember that March is Read an E-Book Month. Many of the retailers, publishers and authors listed on the Deals and Steals pages will be providing their free or discounted e-books for the entire month. For example, Indigo Book & Music will continue to have $10.00 off a Kobo WiFi e-reader for the month.

Contests!

Read an E-Book Week has been running several contests for the week. We have now posted the winners, but would like to thank everyone who participated. Some were very creative in their response and I can assure you each response was read.

A CHALLENGE!

Last year several E-Book Week participants sat in their favorite coffee shop for a few hours with a sign that said "Ask me about e-books". They had either an e-reader or other device for reading e-books and showed it to anyone who was interested. "It was a lot of fun!" we were told. Why not try it yourself this year? Take a photo and send it to us and we'll post it. Maybe we'll get enough images to make a collage!

Or, go to our Read an E-Book Week promotion page and choose ONE thing to do to during Read an E-Book Week to help promote e-books to your community!

The Future of E-Books

2012 will be the year for colour screens on e-books. Amazon will have the Fire, Kobo the Vox and Barnes & Noble the Nook. The e-reader's grip on fiction will soon be giving way to children's books, comics and graphic novels, cookbooks and travel titles.

Interactive books that respond to screen taps and include sound, and animation aren't far behind.
